Framing the Future: MOAS Launches Its Final Exhibit Before a Historic Transformation

The Museum of Arts & Sciences (MOAS) is entering a defining moment in its history: one that celebrates decades of discovery while setting the stage for an extraordinary new future.

On October 11, 2025, the Museum will debut Expedition: Dinosaur, a spectacular, family-friendly exhibit featuring life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, interactive displays, and hands-on activities that spark curiosity for all ages. Running through March 29, 2026, this immersive experience invites visitors to step back in time to an age of giants — and marks the final exhibit in the Museum’s current era before an exciting transformation begins.

Framing the Future: A Vision for What Comes Next

On March 29, 2026, the Museum of Arts & Sciences and the Cici & Hyatt Brown Museum of Art will close to the public as MOAS begins a once-in-a-generation campus transformation. Construction is expected to begin in 2026, with a target reopening in Fall 2028 — unveiling a completely reimagined cultural destination that will connect art, science, and history in inspiring new ways.

This milestone moment is part of our initiative, Framing the Future, which is more than a building project — it’s a promise. A promise to preserve the Museum’s legacy, expand its reach, and deepen its impact for generations to come.

Museum in Motion: Continuing Our Mission Beyond the Walls

During the transition, MOAS will launch Framing the Future: Museum in Motion, a series of educational and outreach programs designed to keep our mission moving — literally.

  • Field Study brings the wonders of art, science, and history directly into the community through immersive, on-location learning experiences.

  • Summer Learning Institute (SLI) continues to engage young minds through creative, hands-on programs. MOAS is currently in discussions with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and other partners to host SLI sessions during the transition years.

Through these initiatives, MOAS will remain a living, learning institution — active, visible, and deeply connected to the community we serve.

Honoring Tradition: The Halifax Art Festival Joins the HAF Collective

As part of the Museum’s evolution, leadership of the Halifax Art Festival (HAF) will transition to the newly formed HAF Collective — a collaboration that ensures this beloved community tradition continues to thrive.

The HAF Collective unites three respected local organizations:

  • Riverfront Arts District (RAD), a nonprofit known for producing the Daytona Beach Arts Fest and the Arts VoCo Season of the Arts.

  • Al Smith Productions / Bullseye Direct Marketing, the creative force behind many of Downtown Daytona’s most celebrated public events.

  • Riverfront Esplanade, Daytona’s scenic waterfront greenspace offering family-friendly programming and community engagement.

Together, this partnership brings nonprofit vision, professional execution, and a deep commitment to community — ensuring that the Halifax Art Festival continues its legacy of excellence in Downtown Daytona Beach beginning in 2026.
