A New Chapter for the Children’s Museum at MOAS

Updated: Aug 8

For years, the Charles and Linda Williams Children’s Museum has served as a vibrant hub for play-based learning, creative exploration, and family discovery. Thousands of children have taken their first steps into the world of science, engineering, and imagination within its colorful, hands-on exhibits. As we move toward an exciting new era at the Museum of Arts & Sciences, this beloved space is preparing for a thoughtful transformation.

The last day to experience the Children’s Museum in its current form will be Friday, August 8, 2025.

This milestone marks an important step forward in the Museum’s broader Master Plan and the Crown Jewel Campaign—our long-term vision to build a unified campus of immersive exhibitions, outdoor experiences, and cutting-edge learning spaces for all ages. In partnership with the ECHO Advisory Board and the County of Volusia, we are working diligently to ensure that the next generation of children’s programming at MOAS is inclusive, forward-thinking, and deeply engaging.

What’s Next

The Children’s Museum will be closed from August 9 through October 10 for a phased deinstallation. During this time, the entire area will be inaccessible to the public. Story time programs will be temporarily relocated, and registered participants will be contacted with updated details.

On October 11, the space will reopen as a repurposed exhibit area featuring Expedition: Dinosaur, along with the popular Tiny Tots area and Pizza Place.

Once the space is fully prepped, we’ll debut an exciting new exhibition:

Coming This Fall: Expedition: Dinosaur

Opening to MOAS Members on October 10 and to the public on October 11, Expedition: Dinosaur is a nationally touring, STEM-rich experience that brings the prehistoric world to life through technology, science, and immersive storytelling. The exhibit will be on view through March 29, 2026.

We are proud to present this exhibition thanks to the generous support of our sponsors:

  • Carter Electric, Inc. – Presenting Sponsor

  • ICI Homes – Supporting Sponsor

Their leadership has made this experience possible for our community, and we are deeply grateful.

Visitors of all ages can look forward to:

  • Life-sized animatronic dinosaurs

  • Interactive fossil dig stations

  • Hands-on science and technology exhibits

  • Immersive environments exploring paleontology, evolution, and discovery

This thrilling exhibition serves as a bridge to what’s coming next—and a glimpse into the future of children’s learning at MOAS.

A Vision for the Future

While the original Children’s Museum is saying goodbye for now, we’re already dreaming big. An all-new, reimagined Children’s Museum experience will make its debut in our future building — and it’s going to be better than ever.

As part of our museum-wide transformation, we are actively developing plans for a reimagined children’s experience that builds on the legacy of the current space while setting a new standard for interactive learning in Volusia County. While concepts are still in development, the new space will be immersive and full of hands-on exhibits designed to spark curiosity and creativity in every child who walks through the door.

We’re excited to continue this journey with our community and remain deeply grateful to the families, educators, supporters, and public partners who have helped the Children’s Museum thrive for so many years.

MOAS invites all visitors to join in honoring the legacy of the Children’s Museum while embracing the thrilling adventures to come. In celebration of this meaningful transition, MOAS invites the community to stop by a special table outside the exhibit on August 8 between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. to share written or illustrated memories, stories, and reflections.
